No. Swiping left only queues a photo for deletion. Nothing is removed until you reach the review screen, check what is queued, and confirm the system delete prompt. You can recover anything from the queue before confirming.
Yes. Deleted photos go to the Recently Deleted album in the Photos app, where they stay for up to 30 days. Open Photos, go to Albums, scroll to Recently Deleted, and tap Recover.
